Ford's Mission to Conserve Water

Ford recently announced their newest clean-energy goal. Recognizing that the most precious resource in the world is Water, Ford has set a goal to reduce their consumption of water by 30%. How will they do so you might ask? Well let's see?

First off, outside of being green in so many other ways (i.e., employing electric yard tractors and generating electricity from large solar panel arrays) the American automaker is going to reduce their dependence by replacing the practice of lubricating equipment with water, with a method coined "dry-machining" which mists equipment with atomized oil. Dry machining is expected to cut water usage by up to 280,000 per annum. Additionally, Ford plans to develop advanced filtration systems which will allow them to reuse any water which they employ.

Currently, Ford expels 40,000 gallons of water to manufacture just one car, but with its efforts Ford hopes to reduce the total amount of water they use by 10% each year and after three years, they hope have achieved their goal.

We at Vollman Ford located at 1600 American Way in Portland, MI 48875 would like to applaud the initiatives taken by Ford. We also invite you to stay tuned to our blog to find out more about Ford's latest green initiatives and their path to 30% reduction in their consumption of water.
