Successful Chicago Auto Show News from Ford

After a successful run at the Chicago Auto Show, Ford has made some great announcements about keeping their vehicle production The United States.

Ford Motor Co will invest more in the Torrence Ave. assembly plant in Illinois, which makes Ford Taurus and Ford Explorer available from Vollman Ford in Portland, MI. They've received orders from 40 state and local governments for the 2013 Police Interceptors.

In fact, Interceptor is offered in two variants: a modified Taurus and SUV Explorer.

These orders were just from the Cook County sheriff and Illinois state police. Adding Interceptor to the Torrence plant's lineup also adds a third shift. 1,200 people are being hired, who will join the already 3,700 workers.

Lisa Teed, marketing manager for Interceptor, is anxious and excited. "We have responded to the bid spec request, and I'm sure they are evaluating it," she said.1

Interceptor models will currently not be available for purchase by regular citizens.
